Optimizing Websites For Google Image Seach

This has been discussed many times in blogs, but as I was looking for image optimizaing for a blog so thought of sharing the ideas again.  If your site’s content is based on image search or your site has quite a number of images, you need to do follow some steps so that Google indexes your images in Google Image Search .

## Enable enhanced image search in google sitemasters tools. Find it under Diagnostics / Tools / Enhanced Image Search.

##Give names to images which makes sense. pic1.jpg is not the correct day. hotballons.jpg is way better.

##The alt tag should be used for a short description such as alt=”ballon” as Google uses it to index the images as well. It can be empty if the image is used purely for design purposes.

##Try to upload images as big as possible. Link big size images to the previews used on your site. The bigger the image the more priority is gets.

You can check which images are indexed on your site with this search: http://images.google.com/images?q=site:yoursitename.com

Finally you need to be little patient with this as it may take upto 6 months to index in google.

Google Trends is another tool provided by Google other than popular ones like Adwords Keyword Tool or Word Tracker which can be used to research n compare search volume over a time extent. One can compare up to 5 keywords selecting different time frames and countries. This is a good way to check how a keyword is changing, like it’s on the rise, you may consider getting in on that keyword.

Google Trends

Google Trends Top 100 from Google updates every hour with the top 100 most popular searches over the last hour. It ranks them 1 to 100. When you click a link, it will take you to a page that shows a graph of the keyword, related blog posts, related news, related keywords, and the top SERP results. This is a great tool for people writing or blogging on current events and news.

10 Useful Stats About Twitter

Last month a social media analytics provider named Sysomos released a comprehensive report on Twitter usage. Rohit Bhargava blogged about 10 standout conclusions that the report offers to help you (and your brand) better understand the potential uses of Twitter. The problem with most analysis on Twitter, though, is that it is limited by the minimal amount of data that Twitter collects. So, to fill the gaps, most reports do things like guessing gender based on real names or pulling data from keywords in people’s biographic information. This often yields some questionable results – and the Sysomos report is not immune to this (for example, they find that 65% of Twitter users are under the age of 25, but base this on only the 0.7% of users who actually disclose their age).

Google Adsense is the best pay per click context based advertising programs today. Infact it can be said that Google adsense has really boosted webblogs & web publishers . There are many tips & tricks which helps to increase revenue .
Mainly there are some basic rules which has to be kept in mind. Firstly the theme & the content is very important. Niche sites generate more revenue as it is easier to achieve decent search engine placement for them.As the best way to increase revenue is through increased traffic & so the visitors will only spend time in your site only when your content is really interesting to watch out for .

Secondly before deciding the content check out how much the advertisers are paying for the advertisements. You can try out some free keyword trackers tools like this one http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/keywords/
Try to target keywords which are moderately priced as the market is quite competitive nowadays.
You can also use Overture bidding tool http://uv.bidtool.overture.com/d/search/tools/bidtool/
to find out how much actually the advertisers are ready to pay you .

Reviewing Be-a-magpie.com For Twitter Ads

After Myspace nowdays the trend to be build one of those niche long tailed sites for Twitter. There are so many Twitter applications from desktops to web applications popping everyday, tweetme, retweet all kinds of services based on Twitter. So natually there is a craze to market and advetise on it. Recently we had come across a third-party advertising site called “ Be-A-Magpie ” from Germany for Twitter.  The idea is pretty simple, advertisers need to sign up & provide a ad text,CPM rates, budger per day, keywords & it will serve the ads as a tweet in a Twitterer who is a publisher of Be-A-Magpie. Now how the Twitterer is selected to match the adtext? as far as they say it is done by a matching algorithm. Coming to the point we had run ads in & well I was not fully satisfied because of some issues. Firstly the ads come as a tweet but a word called “ads” is prefixed with the tweet so as I believe the people who tweet are quite net-savy & I wonder how many will click seeing the word” ads”, only those who will be like really interested in the product can click on the link. Another issue is tracking clicks & conversions as many tweet using other applications, if you see your analytics account ti does not match the number of clicks which be-a-magpie shows. But yes you can mail them and they can send you a detailed log. It’s very new to comment on, but they need to come up with some more smart features for improving click convertions.

Any advertsing platform make by Twitter would be much better, but as there are many twitter advertising model rumors we are yet to see how twitter comes up something by themselves for advertising & revenue generation. It has to be very innovative so that it can blend perfectly without annoying users, but yes they have to come up with a good revenue model or else in the long run  they will fade away like some sites no matter how many traffic may they get!

I have joined this FusionCharts team recently, but if you think data codes, flash programming is a very serious affair here, you gotta change your views. He is one of the most dedicated IMAGE_137-300x400 over here we have got kidding? not really ..he is quite SERIOUS with his work !

He has some really thoughts on this and shared his views with one of my co-worker Shamasis go  on and read it. I am quite supporting his views on this and making a resolution to apply it from next day, atleast for the rainy season!
