As discussed in the previous post on ” Backing Up WordPress Using phpMyAdmin” in this post I am going to discuss how to import restore the same wordpress database in phpMyAdmin, it’s infact more easy than exporting the database.

# Open phpMyAdmin from your web hosting control panel.
# Select your database using the drop down menu in the top left of the screen.

# Click on the “Import” tab in the top navigation menu.
# Now click on the “Browse” button to search for your database backup file on your computer.
# Ensure that the “SQL” option is selected then click the “GO” button.

That’s it & it’s done!

WordPress backup can be easily taken by using Import/Export feature in wordpress admin panel easily. But it does not save your blogroll. It also does not save your settings or data some of your wordpress plugins might have stored(such as certain spam plugins). In this case we can use backup database using PhpMyAdmin.

# Click on the database which you want to backup.

I have recently changed my blog theme to The Seven Five is a semi-automatic “Lifestream” WordPress theme, the theme is great & I am luving  it. I added some pages like archives page, 404 error page. I could have added a plugin for a 404 page but I like to make a own custom 404 error page, you can check my 404 page.  It is very simple & you can do to just by doing the following steps

# Create a 404.php page in your themes folder if you do not have one. It’s best to use the same styles your blog so that it looks a part of the blog.

# Add the basic Add these basic code lines in your 404 file. The beast way is to put the same Header, footer lines & and insert content as u wish.

Display Recent Posts

This shows the most recent Posts written on your Blog.

There are other tags too which can be used but these are the most basic ones to use.

Currently, there has been some changes in the verification process in Webmaster Tools. One of the important change is that the blogs hosted on Blogger that haven’t been verified yet has to use meta tag verification method instead of the “one-click” integrated from the Blogger dashboard. The webmaster team is working ona automated verification approach for the Blogger hosted blogs in coming days, but till that time you need to follow the below given steps to verify Blogger blog:

In Webmaster Tools

# The first step is to click the “Add a site” button on the Webmaster Tools Home Page.

# Then enter the URL of the specific blog and click on the “continue” button to navigate to the Manage Verification page.

# You will then have to select the “Meta tag” verification method and then copy the meta tag.

In Blogger

Go to your blog and sign in.

Click the “Layout” link given on the blogger dashboard for the specific blog you want to verify.

Click “Edit HTML” link under “Layout” tab. This will enable you to edit the HTML for the blog’s template.

You will then have to paste the meta tag that was copied in the webmaster tools process immediately after the element within template HTML. And lastly, click on the “SAVE TEMPLATE” button.

In Webmaster Tools

Confirm the “Meta tag” is selected on the Manage Verification page and click on the “Verify” button.

Your blog is now verified sucessfully and you can start using the Webmaster Tools!
