Microsoft Powerpoint is the most  popular software in creating slideshows for business presentations. As most presentations have lot of data to show & produce, charts are quite often used in these slides. The common way to make Powerpoint Charts is Microsoft Graph. You cancreate several types of charts, including line, column, area and pie charts. It is quite easy to make charts in this. You can check out a nice tutorial on adding a Chart to PowerPoint.

But as more websites like www.slideshare.net is emerging the trend of making & uploading corporate presentations is growing. Though Microsoft Graph is a good option but lacks a bit in looks & animations. FusionCharts is launching a Powerpoint Charting add-on called oomfo, the product is still in beta but you can register for a sneak peek  here. The best part of it is the interactive charts & great 3d animations. You can also watch a product screenshots video to see it in action.

Recently I was searching for online task managers for my web freelancing work & projects as I noticed off late that too many of my to-dos were not getting done. Often I am accused of being messy & unorganised with files & task lists, so I was wanting some Web-based applications that I could access anytime, anywhere, from any sort of device.

The top priority for me in an online to do list is it should allow simple adding and editing of task & attractive at the same time.

This is the list of Top Online To Do Lists: ( No Specific Order)

Ta-da List – This is simple manager created by 37signals, the influential Web application company.

It’s strong point is that it’s a to do list and nothing more. It’s clean and simple, gets right to the point, and only provides feature that you actually need. You can create multipe lists and add, edit, re-order, and remove tasks from each list. You also have the ability to share your lists to friend or by using a public address.

Remember the Milk> – It is a more feature packed task management solution. It allows you to organize your tasks into tabs and tags, make time specific tasks with automatic reminders and repeat intervals, and even has collaborative features. It also has two innovative features: There’s an iPhone app that can pick up your location and suggest nearby chores, and there’s an option to display the RTM task box within your Gmail account.

Wallnote - I am listing this as it allows you to manage your to do list in two ways. You can either access your to do list online at the Wallnote website or you use it on your Windows Desktop.

Orchestrate - It has a unique method to help you organize your to do lists. Instead of allowing you to create a list, it lets you create multiple lists each with their own name.

ListPool - A neat solution that allows you to build your own to do list selecting only the fields you want to add and share them when complete. You can select from preset types of lists or start from scratch.

TaskFreak! – It requires you install it on your own server, as it does not have hosting solution still it’s a great system. Features excellent organization, status marking, and priority control. TaskFreak requires PHP and MySQL/SQLite and installation on your server. Online demo available at site.

Time Tracker> – It Keeps track of the time you spend on any task. Add a task and record time-splits until completing the task. You can also view an overview of total time to complete your tasks.

Tasks – King Design, makers of Feedlounge, offers Tasks, a commercial suite of web-based task management software. Tasks requires installation on your own server and comes in three packages: Tasks, Tasks Jr., and Tasks Pro.

voo2do – Advanced task and priority management for busy, ambitious individuals. Features organization by project, deadlines and time tracking, collaborative functionality, and more.

TaskToy – Todo list service with note taking, bookmarking, and projects. Also gives a lot of options for list items.

Sproutliner - a “supercharged structured to-do list” that has the more advanced feel to it. Source is also available.

e2doList.com – Allows you to create and manage multiple lists, add notes to individual tasks, share them with others, and set email reminders.

Tudu Lists >- Nice todo list that has a simplistic style to it and features sharing and cool priority functionality.

Bla-bla List - Simple and sharable todo lists that uses Macromedia Flash. It also features RSS updates and private sharing.

Hitask.com – This is also pretty cool to use & currently I am using this since it’s quite simple. It has some useful features like drag n drop & export features to Excel and Outlook, OpenOffice iCal, Mail.

Thoughts on Url Shorteners

The craze of url shortners have hyped up a lot becoz of Twitter, infact I was wondering to make one maybe just for fun.  But honestly it has always bothered me how much importance we should give a site like http://bit.ly/ for shorting urls for Twitter, is it really worth of such attention? I just read a excellent post on this by joshua.schachter [ founder of http://delicious.com ] why he feels url shortners are bad for the ecosystem & could not agree more on this. A shortened URL is not easier to remember. Even a longer URL like http://www.techfeedr.com/blog/2009/07/155/ is easier to remember than bit.ly/4RT7K. After some time if Twitter excludes URL’s from the 140 character limit and ¾ of the tinyurl services will shut up shop in a few months. Normal people won’t go out of their way to try and create tiny URL’s, they’ll just copy and paste the full URL.

Thousands of development hours and X million dollars in VC cash later and they’ll all have created a massive collection of 404′s. Great job, yet another sensible year in Silicon Valley… Read full post by joshu HERE
